The QC Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the department, including long-range planning for staffing and instrumentation needs, organizing sample and data flow, as well as staff training, performance and method development.  This leader assumes primary responsibility for the quality of data produced by the department.  The QC Manager will use their own advanced knowledge and experience to resolve complex, non-routine analytical problems, as needed.  The QC department is comprised of two groups: GMP QC (8 contributors) and Research Products QC (9 contributors).  Each group is led by a supervisor and assistant supervisor.  This position reports directly to the Director of Analytical Chemistry, a senior manager with over 27 years of stable isotope chemistry experience.

·         Work with senior technical staff to develop and incorporate state-of-the-art analytical methods to improve precision and reduce testing time

·         Organizes workflow within the department to optimize human and equipment resources

·         Determines and implements plans to meet equipment and manpower needs

·         Ensures quality and timely completion of sample analyses

·         Maintains compliance with GMP and ISO testing requirements in the quality control area

·         Interacts with Management and other departments (Production, Quality Assurance, Sales) to meet corporate goals

·         Manages and develops professional and technical skills and performance of department members



·         Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with a strong background in LC/MS and GC/MS operations

·         5 to 10 years post-doctoral analytical experience working with a broad range of organic and biochemical substrates

·         Good knowledge and experience with analytical requirements of GMP and ISO

·         5 or more years experience in performing and leading others in advanced analytical methods, including LC/MS, GC/MS, FT-NMR and wet chemistry testing

·         Demonstrated ability to manage a group or groups of analytical chemists

·         Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasking organization
